The James Webb Space Telescope is really something. After 15 years of hard work, countless stepbacks, and rigorous dedication, our boys over at NASA finally put this baby into orbit. Was it all worth it? In the eyes of Exploration, most definitely. In the eyes of taxpayers, to be determined...
It really grabbed me when I read on Wikipedia that this telescope could "See the past." I was thinking we really got something here. But to my disappointment, another article written by actual scientists cleared that confusion up. The concept behind the project reminds me a little of myself trying to fix a car engine problem in the dark. Before, I couldn't even see what I was looking at. But then I grabbed a flashlight, so now I could kinda see what I'm looking at, but still have no idea what I'm looking at.
